Omurice(オムライス Omu-raisu), it's basically an omelet served with rice(veggie and chicken mixed) and ketchup. Omu and Raisu words come from the combination of omelet and rice words.

This dish can be found in Korean Gimbap restaurants as 오므라이스 (omeuraiseu).

Omurice

People who love Japanese culture or watches anime a lot probably saw this dish at maid cafe scenes. Children and also adults love to write messages on the omurice with ketchup.

Omurice with "好き" message

it's said that Omurice is found in the beginning of 20th century at a restaurant in Tokyo.

Omurice

Even the amount of the ingrediance changed usually similar ingrediances are used. these are; rice, chicken, egg, onion, ketchup, Japanese style Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and different kinds of veggies. when you use yakisoba instead of rice it's called omusoba.
(Personally I like using tomato puree instead of ketchup)

if you are interested in baking it, here is a recipe. you can try it. Enjoy!
